Gamingprocess.com (a new gaming site, happy to see new ones come out these days) has done an interview with Jay Hosfelt, former Anachronox animator. Here's a bit:
GP: What are some of your favorite games?
Jay::
Looking back on the games I've played, the most memorable ones are the first LAN multiplayer games.
The first multiplayer game I ever played was Heretic. I remember me and three other co-workers setting up a game. It was their first time as well. I saw one of them run across my screen and I yelled "hey, I see you!!!" as if i was surprised it was actually happening, and for some reason we just kept laughing.
Maybe it was the fact that your opponents were now human and did human like things by either making mistakes or doing something really ingenius.
The concept of another human on another computer, controlling a character on my screen was very alien to me. We were all addicted immediately and we all still talk about the old glory days of playing Heretic. Now I pretty much take multiplayer for granted.
Besides Heretic, I really liked Doom, Doom2, and Quake. I really dig the Blizzard RTS games too. Warcraft 1, 2 and Starcraft. Right now I'm hooked on Quake 3 CTF.
My most recent favorite game happens to be Anachronox. And I'm not just saying that because I worked on it. ;) |
