RPG Radar has slapped up a review of Atari's D&D: Heroes. The score is 4/5 and here's a clip:Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes is, as I said earlier, basically what Gauntlet strived to be. The game has nearly no story, giving you only a broad hint on what you're doing and why you're doing it. From what I could gather, you are one of four legendary heroes who were resurrected to stop an evil being from rising to power once again. To do this, you must gather five elemental gems and use them against him in the battle to come. Oh well, it still sounds better than SaGa Frontier 2's story. As for the characterization, forget about it. You're presented with four heroes who won't say anything during the game and a few non-playing characters that either die very horrible deaths or just totally suck at staying out of trouble. But that isn't the point of the game, is it? Of course it's not, slaughtering defenseless monsters that can barely damage you is what this game is all about. |
