My first CRPG (played it on the Amiga), I enjoyed it immensely to run around in that city. I remember hating the slow text based fighting reports though, especially when I attacked some 100 skeletons and for minutes the messages started scrolling down: A skeleton swings at you and misses... A skeleton swings at you and misses... A skeleton swings at you and misses... ad infinitum...

Can I rate a game on pure nostalgia value? You bet I can. If it came out today it would be a one, but many of todays 8s and 9s have Bard's Tale as a progenitor.

My first CRPG, which changed my whole computer player life quite a lot...

Nate has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Nate)

My very first RPG. Compared to today's games, the graphics are crap, BUT when objectively rating a game you must consider the tiem frame alogn with it. For its day, the graphics were standard/good, the gameplay however was really great. This will alwasy be one of my favorite/most memerable CRPGs.

HotPants has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from HotPants)

The first game I truly loved. This is the game that made me grow up to be a game developer.

1st RPG I ever played... and it got me hooked for life! I remember staying up all night playing this game.... and even breaking into my best-friends bedroom (he had the pc, not me:p) to play when he wasn't around. This game started it all IMHO

LuckyDayDragon has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from LuckyDayDragon)

Its the animated colour 3D towns, the way guilds are used, and especially the MUSIC which make this game a great improvement over Wizardry. Only drawback is its limit to one towne: Skara Brae.

Prometheus has rated 6/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Prometheus)

Game had good graphics for its time. Brings back memories, but not all good. Hated repititous combat, and slow text along with it. Story was adequate, but not great. The feeling of immersiveness was almost there, but the game was lacking something that some of the better games of that time had.

Ykalon has rated 3/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Ykalon)

The Bards Tale games were all tedious and frustrating

Diktronic has rated 6/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Diktronic)

At the time it was the best thing going... but going back to play it again I found it hadn't aged as well as similar games.

Garrett has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Garrett)

Nice classic, a little to dim reg gameplay from todays point of view

Volourn has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Volourn)

Very solid game. Thumbs up.

Rev. Layle has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Rev. Layle)

a classic of the time (while not the first to hae that 3D view - the first to do it in COLOR). however the gameplay does get a bit stagnat at times. but the game balance was decent and the puzzles for the most part fun

wsutton2 has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from wsutton2)

A classic. Skara Brae, I spent a lot of time in that city. Obviously, dated graphics now.

Brown has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Brown)

Loved it on the Commodore 64 at the time. Simple but enjoyable, as long as you enjoy drawing maps. Plan to replay it soon.

jake has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from jake)

This was my first encounter with the RPG genre. It was like I entered a whole new world of computing. I played the whole series. All the new things I saw made this game one of my all time favourites.

The greatest RPG I have ever played. A true "classic" in every since of the word.

Daryl has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Daryl)

Far from perfect, even in its day, but it had some of the best graphics at the time, and the town and dungeons seemed eerily realistic back in the day even though they're almost laughable now.

goshuto has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from goshuto)

My first CRPG. Graphics and sound aside, it still is a fun game. A classic!

Udo has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Udo)
