Steven Escalante was the partner in a Fighting Legends interview at HomeLan Fed. They are talking about the launch of the game /which didn't go too well, btw), and here's a bit that explains what Steven thinks went wrong:

HomeLAN - It's been a couple of months since Fighting Legends has been released to stores. Overall how do you feel the launch of the product has gone so far?

Steven Escalante - Fighting Legends has had its ups and downs. It is hard to answer this question without first hitting on the cold hard truths. The first and foremost would be that we have had poor sales. While many titles are experiencing poor sales this season, we are experiencing a bit worse than that. There are many different reasons that can be behind this poor performance of sales, however we have all looked at the different elements that make up a product’s launch, and the one thing that was missing from Fighting Legends was a strong marketing push behind the title, in fact only guerilla marketing was done to promote Fighting Legends.

This did in fact prove to be fatal in our launch of Fighting Legends. The many positives of the game are the positive reviews; 7 out of 10s, 93 out of 100, and 4 out of 5s… can’t complain there. Our distribution and retail coverage was fantastic. We had great shelf placement and ran some strong in-store marketing plans in CompUSA, Best Buy, EB, Gamestop, Amazon, Fry’s Electronics, Musicland, Future Shop, EB Canada, Multi Micro, etc. Our infrastructure was always a powerhouse with HP, Oracle, Cisco, and Internap as part of our server side strategy. And we were able to produce this game in 18 months, that’s an online persistent game in 18 months. Yes we have had some bugs, but so haven’t almost every other online game, new and old, that has been released this year.

So, how was our launch for this title? Great instead we really didn’t launch yet. As a product’s launch goes, we really haven’t even scratched the surface. Right now we are working on getting Fighting Legends positioned for the Asian and European markets. What is great about this is that we will do so with a good amount of marketing backing each territory’s launch. With the growth of the community in these countries, Fighting Legends will stand the chance of a successful expansion launch in the US.
