GamesDomain has written a review of Anarchy Online. The say it's mediocre at best, rating it 2 1/2 stars out of 5. Of course, this is once again to blame on the fact that there are more bugs than there is gameplay:

One of the main questions on everyone's mind is have they fixed the lag? In beta, the clear and worst problem with the title was the shocking amount of lag experienced whilst crossing either a) heavily populated areas, or b) any part of the main cities. Has Funcom truly implemented its allegedly lag-reducing secret code? Not that I can tell, I'm afraid - travelling to the centre of Omni-Tek capital city Omni-1, I was reduced to a pitiful 3 frames per second (measurement kindly brought to you by the handy FPS metre that the client provides). This has been tested on a system that's well within the specifications outlined in the game's manual, and we have been hearing reports of much higher end systems with similar problems.

Since the huge lag is occurring in either highly built-up areas or those containing high player populations, the presumption is that this is a graphical problem. Given that the PC is paging for minutes on end, I'd guess it's attempting to depict all the high rise buildings, the details, as well as the multiple textures on all the people, and it's too much for most current systems to cope with. Funcom, as always, is promising daily remedies, and let's be fair, the situation has improved a little bit. But it's clear there's still much work to be done.
