There is a new preview of Asheron's Call 2 on the net today: Gamespot UK´has taken a closer look at this upcoming MMORPG. Here's a bit from that preview:
According to Turbine's Jason Booth, 'What we're trying to do, first off, is simplify the game for new users. Most of these games have you make permanent decisions at the beginning, before you have any idea what impact those decisions will have. So we've decided to strip all of that out and just give the user decisions that he can understand - like how does my character look? The only other thing you have to do is name your character.' From there the idea is that your character develops down the path you choose by your actions - will he become a melee fighting expert and have skills and stats associated with that, or will he become a magic user? It's a system that sounds similar to the freeform development on offer in another Microsoft project, Dungeon Siege. |
