RPGDot Game Rating Machine

Lintra has rated the following games:

Age of Wonders: 7/10 points

Not a CRPG but a fun turn based fantasy game. A cross between Warlords and Heroes of Might and Magic. It never really 'caught' me, but I can still appreciate it for what it is ... a great turn based game with a ton of flavor.

Anvil of Dawn: 9/10 points

I loved this game. Very good "feel". Game system is good, puzzles are fun. A little short though.

Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: 9/10 points

Very flexible system. Good story.

Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance: 8/10 points

I liked this one better than Icewind Dale, by far, but not enough to get BG 2.

Baldur's Gate - Tales of the Sword Coast: 6/10 points

Together with Ice Wind Dale this expansion caused me to not buy BG2. It was Okay...but not great.

BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Revenge: 7/10 points

Simple, but fun. Battle mechs, but not very complex. It counts more as an RPG than a battle mech game.

Betrayal in Antara: 7/10 points

Champions Of Krynn: 8/10 points

The gold box series took CRPGs to a new level. Tactical considerations were a must (though the hold person spell was overpowered). Pacing was great (not real time, so in the middle of a chase you could sleep for 8 hrs, wake up right in the middle of the chase) if you could overlook the programing limits of the era. This series is famous for good reason!

Crusaders of Might & Magic: 5/10 points

Darklands: 10/10 points

Great system, large believable world...what more do you want?

Darkstone: 5/10 points

The first real Diablo rip off. Gets old (really - your charachters age very fast) fast.

Death Knights of Krynn: 7/10 points

Diablo: 9/10 points

I still play this years after it's release. It is great when I get home from work feeling really PO'd at the world...an unparrelled way to blow off steam.

Diablo - Hellfire: 7/10 points

Adds 4 new level and the powerful monk. A good, clean addition to Diablo.

Diablo 2: 7/10 points

Dragon Wars: 8/10 points

Engaging game system. Takes a while to get going, but once it does it is very, very good. First person perspective ala M&M3-5.

Elder Scrolls 2 - Daggerfall: 7/10 points

What a game this could've been w/o the bugs and glitches! As it is, a great open ended game, where the biggest limitation is your imagination.

Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 9/10 points

Great game. At the time a much needed boost to a fading genre. Love the many ways you can win.

Fallout 2: 9/10 points

Gateway to the Savage Frontier: 8/10 points

Again, great pacing, good story.

Heroes of Might & Magic: 9/10 points

I still play heroes 1 today. Very challenging!

Heroes of Might & Magic 2 - Succession Wars: 9/10 points

Heroes of Might & Magic 2 - The Price of Layalty: 8/10 points

A worthy expansion to HMM 1. Introduces a lot of new concepts, and much updated graphics.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3 - Armageddon's Blade: 9/10 points

An Industry standard. That to which all other fantasy turn based games are compared. Very solid, although the AI is lacking and the heroes all start to look alike.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3 - The Restauration of Erathia: 8/10 points

Great game. Lots of scenarios and campaigns.

Icewind Dale: 6/10 points

I enjoyed this, but was never able to finish...it started to seem like work after a while.

Icewind Dale - Heart of Winter: 6/10 points

I was disappointed with this title...enough so that I did not get BG 2.

Iron Lord: 5/10 points

Even at the time this game was limited.

King's Bounty: 7/10 points

A really fun game. Very dated now, but good game play, limited replay tho...

Legend of Smelda: Macarena of Time: 3/10 points

Free, but not great. No challenge.

Might & Magic 3 - Isles of Terra: 6/10 points

Might & Magic 4 - Clouds of Xeen: 8/10 points

Very good RPG. Challenging.

Might & Magic 5 - Darkside of Xeen: 8/10 points

I loved the full world of Xeen! It was very engrossing.

Might & Magic 6 - The Mandate of Heaven: 10/10 points

Might & Magic 7 - For Blood and Honor: 9/10 points

Fun game. Great system, I loved the two different paths.

Might & Magic 8 - Day of the Destroyer: 7/10 points

Might & Magic 9: 8/10 points

Enjoyable game. Feels like it needed a few more months in development before it was released. But not overly buggy, just kind of empty. I miss some feature of the MM6-8, but I recall being very put out by MM6 at first. Needless to say it later grew on me. MM9 is not as good as 4-7 but is better than 8.

Might & Magic 9: 8/10 points

Game has gotten a bad rap. Better than most reviewers give it credit for.

Neverwinter Nights: 8/10 points

While not true D&D this game is a pretty good imitation. The single player campaign is okay .. but where the title shines is in the lively mod community and multi player modes. The Aurora tool kit is very versitile and there are some *fantastic* independent mods out there.

Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark: 9/10 points

A truly epic level continuation of the ever evolving NWN game. Even if you don't like the story (I did), this is a must have for the mods that are sure to follow. I can not recall the last time I enjoyed mounting up such a high body count while following a good story (I actually found myself taking notes on the drow houses - it turned out I didn't need it, but it was cool that it was there). The game is a tad to easy for the pure fighter types, but the NPCs have become much more controlable. All in all a very good game.

Oregon Trail: 3/10 points

Essential a port of the paper game with limited to no graphics and (making the game very difficult to play) no tables to judge potential success or failure of any strategy by. The only way figure a strategy is trough trial and error ... but since some of the results are counter intuitive ... well it was not fun to play.

Planescape: Torment: 8/10 points

Ultima 3 - Exodus: 7/10 points

I would LOVE to see this game updated. I recall having a true blast with it.

Ultima 7 - Serpent Isle (Sequel): 8/10 points

Ultima 7 - The Black Gate: 9/10 points

I recall this game with lots of love, though my system was bare minimum at the time. Iolo complaining about burning in the fire he was standing in was a favortie silliness.

Ultima 9 - Ascension: 3/10 points

Ultima Underworld 1 - The Stygian Abyss: 8/10 points
