Yahoo! Games Domain has posted an interview with Cryptic Studios' Jack Emmert titled 'The Future of City of Heroes':
GD: What challenges did you have developing the game, and what challenges do you continue to have?

JE: Making the game fun... it's really easy to make an "unfun" MMP. It's not easy to make a game that is intriguing for people regardless of their skill level. With a superhero game, we faced the challenge of trying to capture the essence of what is part of the American psyche from childhood. Therefore, we always felt that we would get lots of different players, be it hardcore MMP players or just casual players. I think that was our greatest challenge.

As for what our ongoing challenge is, it's of course making sure that there's a semblance of balance in the game between the various character types, so that every player feels that they have a place. I think that's always something we want to stress, so that no one feels useless.
