Anarchy Online: Game Servers Suffer DDoS Attacks @ Official Forums

Over last weekend, distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against Anarchy Online's game servers prevented many players from either logging on or playing with any sort of reliability. It is unclear from the official notice whether Funcom is still actively under attack, however people don't seem to be complaining of server problems on the official forums at the moment.

DDoS attacks involve the discrete commandeering of networked PCs around the world, and Funcom is urging all visitors to run up-to-date anti-spyware or anti-virus software on their PCs to decrease the possibility of similar attacks elsewhere and in the future.
We have also noticed that several online news locations have been speculating as to the source of the attacks. We would like to mention that at this stage there is no suggestion that these attacks are revenge attacks from disgruntled players of any type. Whilst we appreciate it is easy to speculate during times like this, we cannot compromise the ongoing investigations by releasing any further information on the possible source of these malicious attacks.
