WomenGamers have conducted an interview with Dale Lullo, Maximum Charisma Studio's Director of Business Development for Fighting Legends, about this upcoming MMORPG. Here's something about being a woman in the gaming industry:
I know that, at least for a while, you were the only female employee out of about ten or twelve people when things got started. How much has that changed at this point in time, and what is your perspective on it? What are your thoughts on the presence of women in gaming and gaming development as a whole?
We have just under 30 people now and three females. I don't think women have come all that far. Sure, we now have more women in power positions, but the majority of those positions are pigeonholed into Marketing, PR and Human Resources. I don't see any difference in the game industry. There are not many women running Financial departments, Business Development or Operations. In recent years, women in the movie industry have gained more active roles in the business side of things, even creating their own companies. This is a trend that I'd like to see filter down to the game industry. |
