Yo aren't surprised that we report about a new Glimpse Inside at the official site, are you? It is a regular, and this time they talk about what they will be showing at E3:
The first question inevitably is whether the game you'll be working on will be shown at E3 and if so, in what format. For a huge publisher like Electronic Arts, the space in the booth is limited so strategic decisions are made to determine which products should be featured on the huge video wall (Earth and Beyond will be this year!), which products will be demo'd on the booth floor, which will be shown in the special theatre (Earth and Beyond will be this year!), and which products will be shown-off in private rooms off the floor (as Earth and Beyond was last year).
Once it's established which products are showing, and where, then booth diagrams and blueprints are drawn up and the appropriate departments contacted to provide support. A flurry of activity then occurs, from arranging the actual booth construction to creating the multimedia presentations, to writing and printing marketing materials, and even figuring out lunch catering services for the multitude of EA employees working the show who haven't time to spend their lunch break waiting in the gigantic food lines. There's a lot more to it than that, of course, but that's just the basics. |
