Thanks to Antheis Corazon for this newsbit: Gamespy has a very nice interview with Chris Taylor from Gas Powered Games on Dungeon Siege, along with 2 screenshots. Here's something:
GameSpy: Was the engine designed to be modable? Do you think this engine could do for RPGs what the Half-Life engine did for the FPS mod community?
Chris Taylor: Yes, right from the very beginning we set it all up to be data-driven. Most of the data for the game is in our GAS files. These control almost every aspect of the game and can be edited with a simple text editor. I hope the mod community gets everything they need from the engine … and can't wait to see what all the creative minds around the world can dream up! We are very excited about this. |
