Gladius for the PS2 has been reviewed at Gamespy. The score is 4/5 and here's a snippet:
The battle interface is very user-friendly, as is everything else in Gladius. There are plentiful tutorials, and a huge in-game FAQ. You're allowed to fight any battle as many times as you wish, building up your stats and cash. You can save at any time. The only time you get a "Game Over" screen is when the protagonist dies. Back in the day, LucasArts' graphic adventures were more fun than Sierra On-Line's graphic adventures in part because the former company didn't punish the player with endless deaths and reloads; it was really hard to "die." It's nice to see that philosophy applied here.
