Gamehelper has reviewed Gladius for the Xbox resulting in a score of 7.8/10:
The RPG elements in Gladius are your standard leveling up, allotting skill points, and upgrading your equipment. Although this adds customization and depth to your characters and the game itself, it’s kept shallow enough to avoid turning off non-RPG fans. As you equip your gladiators, a simple display shows you exactly how the new item will affect your stats. Sure, your defense goes up 3, but your agility drops 1, is that a sacrifice you’re willing to make? Having it laid out so simply makes choosing equipment a breeze, which is what it should be. Perhaps the most important stat you’ll have to consider is your gladiator’s Affinity. Tied to the elements, it can give your warrior an edge against some combatants, but leave you vulnerable to others. Some armor and weapon have Affinities, some don’t. It’s up to you to decide how best to outfit the members of your school.
