The official City of Heroes site has posted Beta Report #3, with NCsoft's Executive Producer of 3rd Party Products, Jeremy Gaffney scribbling down a few paragraphs:
Another month has passed, and it's time for another informal look at what's going on in Beta. Overall, things are going well right now - we've been in external testing for going on 5 months (starting with "friends and family" testing last October) and the testing time is absolutely paying off. We just brought in 500 new people last week and the first play session went very well - no major lag, rubberbanding, or any real oddness (at least not for me, and I was hanging out in the most crowded areas of Atlas Park looking for that kind of trouble). Additionally, the datamining is moving along well; the Crypticians have been balancing a number of powers as well as fundamental things like the XP curve, and that's expected to continue over the coming months.
