A review of Morrowind has been published at Neoseeker. The detailed article is once again a very positive one, with a rating of 88%. Their conclusion:
In conclusion, I’m happy to say that Morrowind appears to be a contender for one of the best RPGs of this year, despite its flaws. Although it appears from my review that there are a lot of problems, the rewards from the exploration and free-form play aspects of this game far outweigh them since most of the time you won’t really notice unless you are consciously “powerlevelling.” The game will grow on you as you play more and more. In my opinion, the chance to explore a world and its story at your own pace, especially after playing so many games where you hand is held for most of the time, is a chance worth taking. I’m hoping that once Bethesda puts out a patch for the game, a lot of these issues will be corrected and the game will be even better. In addition, the game came with an editor; so expect a lot of user made maps, dungeons, and plugins to be available by the time you read this. The game always manages to “wow” you in one way or another, and in the end, although Morrowind doesn’t live up to its hype entirely, it still is an RPG worthy of many hours of play. And then there is VN Roundup with their own review, which rates the game 94%. Once again, we bring you their conclusion:
After waiting for five years for another adventure in Tamriel, Bethesda has given us the gift of Morrowind. Has it been worth the wait? Absolutely! This is, in my humble opinion, the new standard by which single player Role Playing Games will now be judged. The graphics, the sound, the gameplay, and a story that will suck you in and not let go are all top notch. The level of detail is unbelievable and all of the hand-placement of NPCs and items shows how much Bethesda wanted Morrowind to be the success that I think it is. I'd like to go on, but I hear Morrowind calling me and I must answer! |
