GameSpyDaily has conducted an interview with S" Games, the developers of Savage, a 3D Action-Adventure-Strategy-RPG:
GameSpyDaily: So what is still all about beasts developing 'magic' and their Beast Queen?

Jesse Hayes: We're going to leave this one to the imagination for a bit longer. We will be releasing some more information about the Beast race a bit later on.

GameSpyDaily: Elaborate on the commander type of gameplay.

Jesse Hayes: As I mentioned earlier we are focused on making the commander / RTS mode true to the traditional RTS. The only difference is you'll be selecting real human players and telling them where to go rather then mindless computer controlled AI.

The commander's viewpoint is a top down view of the world. You'll start by creating workers and sending them off to gather resources. While you are doing this your player controlled units are out scouting for the enemy and hunting non-playable characters. You'll then start researching technologies. These technologies will give your team use of new, more powerful units as well as abilities. Send your units to protect supply chains or conversely cut off your enemies. Once you have built a strong army you'll command your team to attack the enemy stronghold, orchestrate the attack and declare victory for your race.

We are also implementing a good deal of simple and useful tools for communicating with your FPS units. When you select a unit and right click on an enemy as you would do in a traditional RTS, the FPS player you selected will simply get a beam of light on his screen above the enemy you clicked on with an automated prompt to attack this target. This works the same way for moving units around the map. You'll dish out waypoints for the FPS units to head towards. You'll also have a number of predefined messages you can send to players as well as the ability to chat.
