A new Dragon Empires Developer Diary has been posted at the official site. It is written by Senior World Builder Scott Cowie. Here's a bit:
Roads will play a large part in determining how the players travel around our world – without them players would easily get lost and stumble around the wilderness for ages. Several trade-offs have to be made by anyone playing the game, if players risk leaving the road for a short-cut they’ll cut down their travel time, but will more than likely encounter wandering monsters, whereas if they stay on the road they may take longer to get to the city and could be preyed upon by outlaws – especially worrying if you are an unescorted merchant. All of these factors need to be taken into account when first planning the road, but the terrain ultimately determines the path the road takes… and boy, do we have a lot of terrain.
