Video Game News has a review of Pirates of the Caribbean up with a rating of 'Worth Renting Or Loaning':
Ship combat is also odd. You command your vessel in a third person viewpoint that is workable but confusing. Cannons fire on your opponent's ships, but at the early stages of the game you are horribly outmatched, and unless you commit a lot of time to avoiding your opponents, you'll easily be sunk. Sword Fighting = Easy... Ship Combat = Hard. Eventually battles at sea against other ships or the occasional fort have nothing to do with tactics or strategy, but whoever controls the superior numbers. It seems virtually impossible to dodge cannon fire from another vessel, and so most fights are just slugfests until one is sunk. Unless you board the other ship and go at it...
