Rend's Rants: A look at May

To continue with our tradition of looking back on last month: May was - once again - a great month for our site. More than 420.000 visitors, more than 1.8 million pageviews (and that's for RPGDot alone, not mentioning MorrowindDot, GothicDot and Locusinn). Just to put this into perspective: we have increased our visitor numbers by a factor of 10 over the last year. So it's a big Thank You to all of you who have chosen RPGDot as your premier source of information regarding RPGs. And it's a big Thank You to the team, working on this site without getting paid.

It goes without saying that the increased traffic has really stressed the server on some days. And we are THAT close to our bandwidth limit now. So it is once again time to look for alternatives. Actually, I expect the number of pageviews to stay the same or even drop slightly during the summer, but I know for sure that in fall, we will face serious problems for sure. Concerning this: may I once again point you to our paypal donation button - and much more so to "Friends of RPGDot". I do so because with enough people making regular donations, we would be able to switch to a server with unmetered bandwidth (only capped at 10mbps), which would free us from the bandwidth limit and even allow us to offer downloads for you (something we now only do occasionally, due to the bandwidth restrictions we are facing).

In July, we will celebrate two events: Three years of RPGDot, and 10.000 newsbits in our database (the database was created last year). We will prepare some nice surprises for you then, and until then: enjoy our services, and enjoy playing your favorite RPGs...
