GPG missed out by not providing any story based motivation to make a compelling game. Without in-game dialog, characters are dull and not interesting. Great leap forward in graphics. I hope there is enough depth in the tool set for others to make compelling games. |

The game was well done, but I do not believe it upset Diablo II reign at all. If it had come out prior to DII, then maybe it would have been more appealing. Not quite able to put my finger on where it falls short, but there is no appeal to replay it like in DII (notice the continued comparison?) And the balance issues, especially the frustration in bringing along a nature mage, definitely needed tuning.
All in all, not a bad game, but with a low-level story line, I definitely have all I need in DII, which I can still pull out and have fun for a couple of hours. |

A very nice looking game and a great engin. The included game gets old VERY fast, but I am sure that there will be some good RPGs made with the toolset later. The game included is not an RPG though. Even when someone makes something with some content the combat is a bit overly simplified. Also the characters are little more than magic item collectors. I don't really connect with my character at all.
I will most likely be too busy playing Plugins for Morrowind and Modules for NWN to ever play any siegelets.
Oh well it could have been great. |

It gets kind of boring after a while. I liked it 100 times better than Diablo 2. The graphics are great on my (getting) lower-end machine (p3 600). My favorite part is its quick load times. Loading and reloading, saving ext. is like nothing, patience free.
Bottom line is that its a fun game and it didn't give me a head-ache, and the only time I would get agrivated it was my fault.
You will probably end up buying this for the bizillian mods coming out anyway. |

what diablo2 wishes it could of have been. great graphics, although the 'seamless loading' is a bunch of bs. fun the first time through, but no replayability value, other then the siegelets which will have to wait till until after i am done getting immersed in morrowind :)
the engine is great, and it shows they spent a lot of time on it, but the story isn't fleshed out, which took a lot out of the game.
that being said, should be great for all the brainless teenyboppers looking for something more 'challenging' then quake/doom. |

This game rocks! It is the best game i have ever seen. After playing the Diablo and Baldurs gate series this is a complete surprise. It kicks the shit out of em'. when i first played the demo i nearly blew my load. |

Fun, but no lasting appeal. The graphics are amazing and keep you hooked for some time. Unfortunately a lack of depth to the game will not keep me coming back for more. I DID play the game through, which took me roughly 26 hours and says something for its fun-factor, but all in all Dungeon Siege lacks enough elements to make it a good-average game, rather than the great game it could so easily have aspired to. |

A ground-breaking graphical achievement. The seige engine has the capability to implement the changes everyone wants to see (e.g. Town Portal). Really looking forward to the seiglets that will be created by the player community. The release of the Seige editor alone, is why I rate this game a 10. If you don't like something about the game, then go change it! |

Brilliant graphics, no crashs. Excellent sound.
That's atmosphere for me. The main plot lacks, but I had a great time playing the single player campaign and I can't wait to get the Siege tools to make a real RPG, which DS in its state now of course is NOT. All in all: one of the best works for PC I've ever seen. |

This is a very engrossing game. Not only is it addicting but fun too! (I do see a clear distinction between the two hehe) The graphics are absolutely amazing save for a few things I am nit picky about and it runs beautifully even on a middle aged computer such as mine! (about 9 months old) The battles are over the top. I often find myself clicking furiously and then when its all over being slighty dazed and thinking to myself, "Did I just survive that?" Some of the low points however include TERRIBLE network code, lackluster combat spell effects (like fireball, pillar of fire and a few other fire spells), and some mouse/movement issues. However, all in all I would recommend this game to anyone who likes RPG/Action titles, its a near 10 ;) |

decent game, got old after awhile, just hacking and slashing. Have not figured out best way for multiplayer yet. Game is lagging in multi(not my computer either) Dont like onlyl 8 players in the multi and how to access multi. My opinion lacking. Dark age of camelot RVR is tons better. I took this game back to the store 6 days after buying it. The first couple of hours were fun. After that I was just wanting to be able to automate drinking potions, following the main path and buying things so I could let the computer play the game while I went off and did something more interesting. Needless to say, I don't want to win a copy. |

Talk about some eye candy eh?! Looks awesome, but thats about where it stops. It to often reminds me of Diablo 2. It's one of thoughs games I'll play for a few weeks, and then stick up on the shelf and watch it collect dust. Fun, but gets boring real fast, like Diablo 1-2. I pray the editor will keep it above water for at least the rest of the year. |

I bought this cuz i needed something to play before Morrowind came out. Well its fun, still play it on and off. The original game kinda blows, but with the user created MODs, this game is a lot more fun. I got this ulimited summons, its real fun running around w/ 4 scorpions. Yeha some of u think its cheating, but like i care, whatever makes this game fun. |

Probably the worst RPG I've ever bought. I returned it after 4 days. I'm still surprised by how many people actually like this game. There is NOTHING to do except arrange your inventory. Spell system lags, there are NO skills, no puzzles, no interaction. Oh, it makes a beautiful movie....they should have included popcorn in the damn box (cause you barely need your hands to 'play' the game). |

I was expecting much more, while the graphics are nice, and suit it, there just isnt anything here! all you do is hack people up, i would have loved going into towns, breaking into people's houses, assassinating people, learning martial arts, etc etc but this just doesnt let you, It got boring quickly, and is disappointing. |

This is a very slick and polished game. Great graphics, but the gameplay is almost too automized; in battles, it pretty much runs by itself, without player intervention. Since most of the game consists of battles, you can feel a little detached. The possibilites for mods are amazing, though, and will insure that this game stays on my hard drive for a long time. |

The graphics and engine are great, and the sound is great, but the single player gameplay is pretty boring. Also, the single player version has zero replay value; the completely linear world and lack of strategy or tactics in the encounters makes the game monotonous. I get the feeling they spent a lot of time coding a really good engine and making some pretty graphics, and not that much time on making the game world itself. |

This game was boring. Not enough character options and the battles all seemed the same and the dungeons dragged on and on around and around, no thinking required, just let your eyes glaze over. Only thing saving this game was the graphics. However the practically top down view was annoying for some reason. In order to see the graphics in its best detail left you with a 10-foot field of vision. |

I'm sorry, but calling this game an RPG is an insult to all real RPG's ever made. I am rating this title as low as is possible because of its EXTREMELY repetitive gameplay, its TOTALLY linear maps (ALWAYS only one way to walk), its overly simplistic fighting system (buy the best equipment, press 2 when mobiles are far away, press 1 when they are close, press pause when in trouble, press potions when needed. There. I solved the game for you.), its braindead NPC's, its horrendous dialogue and so on and so forth. Yeah, graphics were good. Big deal. An overpriced graphics demo. |

Not much of a story line. Lack of customability for spells makes mage classes a little difficult. Level design is very good and in the Multiplayer map very expansive, which is a plus. Graphics and sound very good. Item veriaty good, especially in Veteran and higher. Overall, initial game a bit lacluster but would make a great platform for mods and siegelets. |

Playing DS i kinda felt like watching a modified "Lord of the Rings" movie, it was great, but too short. There shurely will be upcoming campaigns and Mods, so you can keep playing for a long time. Bought it finished it - won't ever go back to it... Very much an anti-climax and I found the "drunk cameraman" gave me a headache. I still pick up DII for the odd game and find it much more immersive and satisfying. I will be too busy playing Morrowind to bother looking for Siegelets... Anyway, the Siege Editor has taken far too long to get out and still doesn't work properly. |

Awesome game, great music, graphics and the interface/camera is better than any game of this type, i.e. Diablo 2. And best yet, it is a game you can finish to the end without cheat codes or strategy guides. Easy setting is easy, as it should be. Higher settings are appropriately more difficult. |

This is the first role playing experience for me and what an experience. It is very difficult to dicipline yourself to not over indulge in gameplay. If you like YAWNING through your day, then get the game! Of course I love every yawn, the game is so fun it's worth the lack of sleep. |

BUT gameplay gets boring quickly
your characters fight for themselves mostly and the RPG elements are minimal (auto stats increase etc.)
They should make a true RPG with an equally good graphic engine :-)

As the add says, it's easier to fight an army when you are one. I love the fact that you can control up to eight people in your party. I found it tedious in Neverwinter nights to be able to only control one henchman at a time and the wasted game playing time going back and forth to get the henchman you need for any given activity. |

You need only 2 keys to play 99 % of time.
One to make your party go fordward and another to drink potions.

This game had a lot of hype preceeding it. My impression of it is that it is a prettier Diablo. Same pure hack-n-slash addictiveness, but nicer scenery and chars. I like the music too. Good that you can play online with a friend or three. One thing that annoyed me was that you couldn't bring your view of distance ahead up to full horizontal. So I guess I have minor view issues. Still, I consider this a nice enough game, that is fun playing. Not been hugely addictive for me, but I go back and play it and enjoy it. |

Worth its money but not much more IMHO, most people will probably get about 20-30 hours of singleplayer fun from this game. It has good Graphics, Interface, Controls and offers good Hack'n'Slash Fun until you complete it once. Sound, Music and Skill system are more average. Story, Longtime motivation and Replay value suck, maybe some of the promising MODs can change that in the future... |

Too repettive and little replayability. Once you specialize somewhere it's hard to work somwhere else, and you always end up specializing somewhere. Engine was nice though. Oh, and the items dissapearing after 10 minutes really threw me off. |

This RPG requires no skill, no thinking, no brain. Grab a sword and kill, kill kill. You dont even have to click monsters to kill fight just move near. It gets boring extremely fast. All you have to do is move around from village to village killing every monster on the path. The music is very good though. |

Good, mindless hack & slashin fun. Plot is thin, interface could have been better, and 4 skills to develop is limiting. Also a little annoying that the multi-player campaign had no real end. You beat big baddie and a guy back in town says "thanks".

One of the best RPG's I've played in a long while. It's like a stripped down-all action version of Everquest(to me). There's action (unlike EQ) and lots of character stat building, lots of items/spells/weapons/armor to collect and keep searching for--who wants to waste time learning how to bake bread (EQ)?!? It's a 3d version of the infamous "hack-n-slash" Diablo2 ... BORING smash vase, smash box, smash monster, repeat, repeat, repeat. at least Neverwinter Nights has some excitement and story to it, plus over 2500 community created maps unlike Dungeon Siege's measly little 10 maps.

WORST RPG is Dungeon Siege it has 5 completed Sieglets & Neverwinter has well over 3000. I think that says something about GPG's promise of making something that would allow the community to build their own worlds for others to play, they started out with a lot but 99% of the community bowed out when they tryed to create something with it's editor. Neverwinter has STORY, Roleplaying, Action, Excellent Re-play Value and HEAPS more Re-play value with a very large community! NWN gets a 10 + infinity :) |

First off, this game is NOT an RPG. LOL Ever since the huge financial success of Diablo, companies everywhere have discovered that less dialogue and more clicking and killing equals more money for their RPG. :-( There is no use in reading the occassional dialogue or stories you receive in this game because they don't mean anything. This game is about clicking and killing and slowly upgrading your equipment. Not that that's bad, all RPGs do that, but they also throw in a thrilling story, epic quests with numerous ways to solve them, many skills and leveling options, and everything else that makes an RPG a great RPG. To be fair, I actually had some fun with this game. But I never could complete it. :-( Eventually.... all that mundane clicking gets to you. It can be a fun game for a few hours but when you spend four hours fighting the same creature over and over with no story, it gets old fast. An that's not just for someone that doesn't like "action RPGs," that's for anyone. More power to anyone that can endure this click fest to the very end. |

A rather flawed product. Initial impressions of the game were good. Great graphics, seamless gameplay. However after a while it just gets plain boring! An RPG in my mind should have an interesting story and/or interesting character progression of which this has neither. The game after a while just feels like a glorified version of Gauntlet.
And those who say its a diablo killer...don't believe them. What I'd like to see is an integration of DS's engine with Diablo's gameplay (Diablo III?) |

Probably the only game that will ever get the lowest rating from me. It's a horrible attempt at making an RPG, where all you do is drink potions, optimize your characters, click on the mous and wander through endless corridors of nice graphics. It has no story, no dialogue, no brains and it reeks of Micro$oft culture. Unless Diablo/Diablo 2 are your favourite games ever, stay away from this piece of %&#¤. |

Very linear and very little decision making as far as interaction with others in an RPG sense. However, the graphics are awesome and keep you wanting to move on to see the next dungeon or forest. Specalizing the characters with different attacks to see them improve is very satisfying and I truly enjoyed seeing the characters in the different combinations of weapons and armor as the game progressed and better goods were found. As far as an RPG, not very convincing, but as far as an enjoyable game to pass some time away from start to finish, it's better than average and recommendable. |

I liked dungeon siege, it was fun and really pretty to look at. But unfortunately also completely mindless - it's all hack and slash with the exception of a couple of really basic puzzles. Tactics are really straightforward and you don't much notice (or care) when your characters level up - apart from dressing them in nice new armour or giving them bigger sticks to hit things with.
You won't bond with your character at all and don't waste anytime trading - just flog all the equipment you don't want and move on, all the best stuff is just lying around on dungeon floors to pick up.
The game is very linear - just head forward - kill everything in your way and it shouldn't take more than a day or two to finish.
With a bit of luck DS2 will be a big improvement over this nice but essentially repetitive game. |
