First off, I agree with Ekim on most major points. I find the game to be outright hostile to new players. Do not trying playing it without being ready to read a lot of guides and HOWTOs before starting out. Or have a friend with an infinite amount of patience to guide you through it all. I disagree with Ekim on the combat (at least for now). Although, this could be very dependent upon the character you play. I play a very hybrid char and as such, there is always different things to do in combat. Perhaps I'll get bored of it in a while, but it's not as bland as it may seem at first. Overall, the game is fun. I think it lacks character a bit, but this is something that may come with time, once the players put the effort to carve their niches in the universe.

Alak has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Alak)

The game has a steep learning curve, I agree. But it also has the problem of a player having to learn on their own with other players as a vague guide to help along the way. But once you learn your characters capabilities there are endless hours of fun to be had. The skill based system is a great, much better than the systems of other MMORPG's. Theres always something new to do. My only arguement was the system requirements are rediculously high to get the kind of graphics seen at the likes of E3. It'll run on just about any basic system, but to get the graphics you want, your looking at Ram out the wazzoo and a video card you can drive down the street. I give it an 8, theres still room for much improvement but the game is an already lasting enjoyable experience.

blasti has rated 6/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from blasti)

I really dont agree on the graphics part. if you really turn down everything to minimum, it looks awful.. close to EQ. however if you turn up everything to maximum, you still dont get the graphics shown in the early trailers. however the graphics is not bad, but it is far from being revolutionary. what I like about the skill system is, that you have a large variety of advancing. this is different to most other mmorpgs. but what was said about easy grouping, is not quite true in this context. sure you can mix a group with players all different level of experience, but there is no difference to other mmorpgs if you look at the efficiency. it just makes no sense to build a meelee group of 50% high level and 50% low level chars. so this can also be a very negative point in the game design, because you cannot directly see, what experience others have when you build up a new group. you will realize that you invited the wrong guys when you see the damage output being like 10 compared to the 1000 that other do .. anyway, I agree that there is some potential in the game. the dynamic landscaping offers a lot of possibilities, so its even more sad that it is currently only used for the "random missions" my suggestion to everyone is to wait 6 month and see if the game is in a better shape than now.

Wrecklass has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Wrecklass)

The game is very fun at this time, but the lack of static content will have to be addressed if they want to keep people playing for years to come. Graphics are good, and it can depend a lot on which planet you start on. I highly recommend traveling around Naboo for some great eye-candy. Grouping, however, is a real disappointment. Even with a bunch of people who are "evenly" matched, the amount of experience one can get in a group just doesn't add up to what one can get while soloing. Hopefully this will be addressed in the near future. I say if you like Star Wars, or if you like mmoRPG's and you want to try something new and different, this is the game to get. Everquest players beware, the Skill system is very nice, but this is NOT EQ in space.

Lack of content *kills* this game... so does generated terain, and *no loot*. -- Worst Game Evar.

One of the best mmorpg around.

nico has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from nico)

nice graphic's, sweet character creation, boring fed ex quest's, buggy & at this stage (it's just been released) not alot of content.

Snoekie has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Snoekie)

I give it an 8. Graphics are good and char creation is just beautiful. Too bad you need 1GB of ram to run it smoothly in the cities, that's out of whack. Character progress is flexible and entertaining. Combat isn't all that boring to me, actually I like it. It's about as boring/exciting as any other mmorpg I've played. (AC1 being the exception, combat there was action-packed yet overpowered) It's patched daily and makes good progress. While it could surely use more content and still is buggy at times I really enjoy SWG.

Agree on most points.... the tedium is definitely there for entertainer, once you've heard the songs a dozen times it doesn't matter anymore. I would have preferred you being able to hit your own keys or chords. OTOH, you can do things like read or customize your UI while playing in a band...

Firenzi has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Firenzi)

Game is a total bore. Review is way off. Must be George Lucas' brother that reviewed it here.

great game

Liquid Snake has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Liquid Snake)

This Game is 50 bucks and its 15 a month just to play. It should be free to play oh well all I know is that that is so gay. I'll just buy it when it comes out on Ps2 so i dont have to pay 1,000 dollars to play this game. Lucas Arts should be ashamed of themselves but they did make the awesome knights of the old republic so im not too mad at them.

tc weidner has rated 2/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from tc weidner)

Another game that lives off the franchise "star wars" label. Take the name away and this game has no legs whatsoever to stand on. There is absolutely no endgame. The galactic war, pvp and battlefields are a joke. The game just makes it a chore to do anything. The very last minute of beta they threw on the exp treadmill in hopes of buying time to finish this mess. It didn't work. This game is being blasted by reviewers worldwide and for good reason, It STINKS. I wasted my money, do yourself a favor and don't waste yours.

Bob has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Bob)

The best MMORPG out there at the moment, which doesn't mean there's not a lot of room for improvement. I'm looking forward to watching the game develop, it has a ton of potential.

MP has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from MP)

Looks Great but is less filling. Can't get on to sever 50% of the time or crashes soon after login. Once in not much to do. Patches seem to break more then they fix. Maybe worthwhile around December. right now it is "pay to beta test"

I played in beta and didn't like it

iplaygames2 has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from iplaygames2)

Well said, Ekim. The game continues to morph and spin on its axis, so to speak, and many people are being turned off by this idea. The fact of the matter is, the game NEEDS to change, to fulfill the outstanding potential it has. Many professions continue to be broken, and those need changing. Time will tell if the devs can make this work.

In 6 months this will be *the* best mmog in the industry, and I can't stop playing it even now. :)

Jac Flash has rated 2/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Jac Flash)

i really hated it, and the community is one of the worst ive ever experienced. give EVE online a real shot and find out what a great game should be like.

boogieman has rated 2/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from boogieman)

I would characterize this game as "unfortunate". After a month you'll realize there really is nothing to do. Its very un-starwarsy as well. Who thought that roaming the counrty side killing random spawns would capture the feel a starwars? Starwars takes place in an urban, enclosed enviorenment. This game just isnt it.

Toaster has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Toaster)

A good game, many people online, but a lack of story. Also a good but different character advancement system.

Thorondo Vasquez has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Thorondo Vasquez)

I think this game is very addicting, and very realistic right now. I see high hopes in the future for this game to become "Best MMORPG of the Year" Award in the future. Once Sony has ships for galactic travel in the game. (Where you can fly from planet to planet). Some may not like the game now, but it is updating at least once a month. This game is like having a second life, and I strongly reccomend a MMORPG player to play this game, if you like Star Wars, or are just looking for a fun MMORPG to play. The people part of SWG are very friendly, and will always help you on your journey, Imperial or Rebel. In this game you can be almost anything you want to be for a profession, anywhere from being a local prostitute to a master musician whose in a band and performs on planets. This game is very great. Good job Sony.

AJ has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from AJ)

I was a master architect/artisan/merchant and politician....I was mayor of a city with everything from a bank to a shuttleport in it...and officer in a guild on one of the galaxies...It took me and a couple of close friends a couple of months to set it all up...We were rolling in credits...I mean rolling...people started not logging in...one by one...not just in our city but all over the server.....then one day we looked around and said -"OK now what?" SUMMARY: This game SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS! Please avoid it at all costs....or until they fix it(you'll be waiting a looooooooong time)..it is so nerfed and broken and once you grind to get to the top there is nothing to do anymore. PvP sucks! Combat sucks! The gaming community is lame...the servers are underpopulated and there are a bunch of teenage-loser-heycanyouloanmeamillioncredits-users playing it......I've been playing almost since the game hit the stores....I warn you to stay away or die of sheer boredom!

Complete piece of shit for me. Its killing fest not rpg. If you like lack of content, no star wars in star wars and incompetent developers, this game is for you.

Very well done, and quite true, but fair.

Cyrus has rated 3/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Cyrus)

Good game framework, but lacking substance, polish, and in-depth development. One year after release and the game still fills like a beta product…. Still needs balance… still needs to address problems that have existed sense day one. I want to love SWG, but SOE is doing all they can to make me dislike it.

It's a great game: Visually and only if you want to become a Jedi. It's a bad game: If you ever wanted to play as Han Solo or any other non-Jedi, non-Famous character in the Star Wars saga.

I agree this is a CLASS game, but the monthly payment is stupid and pointless, I can't really afford it at the moment and it just gets me really angry, LUCASARTS DROP THE CHARGE PLZ, if they did it wud be a 10!

eatpoo has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from eatpoo)

If you love LAME games, this one is for you! Endless grinding, toothpick-propping-open-your-eyelids kind of excitement. In fact, if this game got ANY more exciting, I might slip into a coma. SOE and LucasArts have provided for another grind/snoozefest. The developers lie about what they are working on and who is doing it.

With Jump to Lightspeed next to the movies the best way to experience Star Wars. The monthly fee is understandable looking at the tremendous effort and evolving storylines.

Jestor Rodo has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Jestor Rodo)

Oh the game is ok until you get game banned for forum misuse - SOE is a sad excuse for a real company, So I am tasked to discredit them at any and all opportunities. Bruce C wished me a happy new year after banning me _ Please! Muhahahahahahaha!~

Steve Smith has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Steve Smith)

When 05/05/05 rolls around, this game will be "Officialy Pronounced Dead". It seams the SOE Dev team is hell bent on destroying this game. I've been playing since launch and have, like soooo many others, have cancelled my account. If you want to play "EverStar GalaxyQuest Wars" then this is the game for you. I wanted to play a Star Wars MMORPG, the only thing Star Wars about it anymore is the name. Don't bother with this trash.

J. Simons has rated 2/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from J. Simons)

With the new Combat Upgrade SOE has destroyed a once fun and adventureous game. 2weeks ago I would have rated it a 10. Now it is more like an Everquest clone. Don't waste your money or your time.

Cobra has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Cobra)

Was a great game with TONS of potential that the developers have now completely ruined. NO content, Broken Professions, A carbon-copy combat system, and now the inability to level. What could have been the best mmorpg of all time is now just a drink coaster.

john clay has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from john clay)

Sony and Lucas Arts have ruined a wonderful game. They have, in one fell swoop known as the Combat Downgrade, ripped out the sould of the game. Over fifty percent of the player base has already quit, and more will follow as the servers are like ghost towns. So sad.

this game at the start was the best game i have ever played it was so full of fun thing to do and see even after 7 months yes 7 months. Of play I still had only scrached the surfice of the game. But then SOE done sonthing so dumb thay chaned the commbat system of the game from one that you had to plan and be v-carfule in pvp and pve now the commbat system is like the old nes and saga games hit button hit target with no reall flow to the system it is soposed to be more taktical and faster (not) it is so solw not its just not fun my hart used to race at pvp and pve not it is so slow my gran could play this with no thout or experance, and to make thing s worse 70% of frends and players have cannceld thare accounts me included SOE must be loseing a fortune in $$ thay also will not listen to the comunity at al this is why i am hear some one please help this used to be so much fun i have lost a part of my life now (sounds sad but when you play for 7 months you meet nre people and make new frens ten that stops ) what would you do SOE FOR GODS SAKE CHANGE IT BACK ...WOULFGAR (INGAME NAME SHADOWFIRE GALAXY

Dont bother with this game anymore sony has yet again killed a great game. with the new combat upgrade, any review you read from the last 2 years is out the window. it now the same game you cant do the same things.like if you wanted to make things to sell, you cant go out in the world to get the stuff you need to make it with out dieing your only going to be level 1. thats just the start. look at these web sites for more info http://www.swgpetition.com/ http://www.starwarsgalaxiessucks.com/ http://www.pcgamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5708 http://n3rfed.blogs.com/n3rfed/2005/04/a_soe_employee_.html all most all of the people that played the game for over 1.5 years have left the game.

Nyla has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Nyla)

At the time of this games release and subsequent 2 years, the game has changed drastically. What was once an 9 to 10 rated game is now a 1 due to recent massive overhaul. Please try the 'new' revamped present game and if possible write a new review. This is no longer the game you once tried and had been dumbed down to console status. There are no longer interesting professions, the crafting, entertaining and medical professions have been nerfed to basic nothing. Scout and Creature Handler no longer exist. The ultimate goal to work for, becoming a jedi, is now offered right off the bat to everyone. There is no longer a goal in this game to achieve for hard gamer. Mobs drop items that are better than what the crafters can make, therefore why be a crafter? The movement is no longer smooth and is so twitchy it makes you motion sick. Targeting for combat is impossible. Lag is massive. Keymapping is limited and you can barely retool to suit your play style. Most the quests are broken, including the ROTW expansion and JTL expansions. Trials of Obiwan expansion can be loaded, but you can't even go there. SOE's idea of new content was to add multiple expansions, without first fixing the bugs on the main game. The expansions were all released too fast, and themselves contain massive bugs. For the console set, you will probably find this game a 10, for the PC player sat - pass on it, at least until SOE and LucasArts gets their acts together and either rolls back their game to when this first review came out, or fixes the inumerable bugs and issues in the present game.

Schmidt has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Schmidt)

After the change to NGE Starwars is a Game with no feeling any more you can't control the character the same way as befor.SOE have change the setup on that so you can't pick skills from diffrent professions and make a mix that you like. This do that you never get a deeper and more given feeling it is mutch one line play as you not abel to change Profession! you stuck from start. And if you what to change to new profession you have to delete the character you made and lose all things you have, you are not abel to start on a new profession whit the same character you have as you was abel to befor. The combat system is not made for pvp any more and that was a strong point in starwars! in all you lose the urge fast and get tired of the game you are mutch stuck to do one thing and one thing only.

DCH has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from DCH)

Ok, just take a look at a few of these comments from above: Pre-NGE:"Game is a total bore" NGE made it more fast paced with more involvement, yet people still complain. Pre-NGE:"Lack of content *kills* this game" There are now the legacy quests spanning across 30 levels as well as Jump to Lightspeed, Kashyyyk, and Mustafar. Pre-NGE:"I find the game to be outright hostile to new players" NGE made the game more new player friendly. Just about every new player I talk to enjoys the NGE. And even though I am a vet, Im getting used to it as well. Pre-NGE:"*no loot*" NGE is giving us all the old loot tables, blus more. There are now weapon and armor drops of all types and alot of interesting "glowing" items on mustafar to use in the chu-gon-dar cube, but people are still complaining that there shouldnt be as much loot. Personally, I have a combat character and a trader character, and am enjoying them both. The game is still keeping me hooked and I am getting used to the new system. The devs are putting alot of work into the game but its hard to please all sides, therefore Im giving it a 10/10. I am starting to think that since everybody is used to the fast-paced combat the way it is now, it would seem boring going back to the old turn based system. If you havent played the game before, give it a try :)
