The world of Glympse is a world in which technology and magic have developed in tandem. Mana, the elemental energy form of the universe, is battled over by several distinct factions, spread across two different races: Human and Farorcar. It is a world in which players may fight one another directly, or choose never to pick up a weapon and opt for a more peaceful life. Rich social interaction through robust economic and political systems adds complexity at every level.
A combination of player-created, randomly generated, and developer driven quests drive the experience of Glympse to a new level of immersion. Additionally, an innovative method of tracking the outcomes of players’ actions will develop the over-arching storyline - the players will directly affect the world at nearly every turn as they struggle within their chosen factions for supremacy.
No two characters will ever be alike, just as no two players ever could be. A robust skill-based system will allow players to naturally grow better at what they enjoy doing, allowing for extreme specialization in the evolution of characters that will never leave players regretting their choices. No choice in Glympse is a permanent one, the only constant is that of the world itself: change. How each player chooses to play Glympse will determine what Glympse will become. There are no “rules”.
Glympse will welcome players into a virtual space unlike any other in existence. A strategic partnership with Pandromeda, Inc., will make possible a world roughly the size of Mars. The planet of ‘Cael’ will boast a round surface with no “zones” (noticeable server boundaries).
Additionally, Butterfly.net’s revolutionary grid-based networking layer will allow the world to exist as a single entity: Glympse will not suffer from sharding. Hundreds of thousands of users can exist within Glympse at any given time.
Utilizing NDL’s NetImmerse technology, the world of Glympse will leverage all of the rendering advancements of DX 9: bump-mapping, per-pixel lighting, reflective/specular mapping, and more, all harmonized across up to 8 textures per object. A robust physics system, incorporating both hard- and soft-bodied physics engines, provided by ReflectionFabrix, will heighten realism. |
