Head over to VideoGamesLife for an apparently hands-off preview of Troika's Source-driven Vampire: Bloodlines. Here's a clip:
Who, then, will you be playing as? The answer is simple: whoever you want to be, as long as you're happy with the fact that you're a newly-sired vampire fledgling. There is no set character, so a new one has to be created. A great deal of customisation takes place here: firstly you have to choose a gender (that's male and female, nothing in-between, alas). Next, a clan must be chosen – one of the seven that exist in the Vampire universe. Do you want to be a brute-like Brujah, a blood-sorcerer Tremere, a mad Malkavian, a classic Nosferatu, an animalistic Gangrel, a seductive Toleador, or a manipulative Ventrue? The final part of the first set of choices is the option to select a character history, such as "All Star Athletic" or "Megalomaniac", some of which are specific to certain clans while others are available to all. With just the gender and clan options, there are 14 base choices, which is impressive.
