A common question often asked about MMORPG's is "what else is there to do besides engage in combat?" Although the struggle between Dark and Light is an integral part of the game, one can choose to engage in other activities such as exploring the vast and diverse world of Dark and Light, or concentrate on your  trade skills to become a wealthy trader, hiring others to conquer fortresses for you.  A player can also improve their trade and political skills offline through the Active Offline Player Mode.  Active Offline Player Mode is where the player is not connected, they are switched to NPC mode before disconnection. This enables the player to continue their skills, even while sleeping, but only for a limited time.  There are over 42 trade skills to choose from.

If you choose exploration as a preferred pastime over combat or management, you are able to undertake a number of quest directly linked to exploration and discovery of  hidden treasures. These quest increase in difficulty as you progress, making it possible to explore more dangerous areas.
