The recent entries in Ragnar Tornquist’s personal blog reveal that the sequel to Longest Journey will support true 16:9 widescreen on both the PC and the Xbox.
Here a snip from Ragnar's answer to the comments that some fans made about the quality of the recent screenshots released by Funcom
I haven’t been totally satisfied with some the screens we’ve published lately, simply because they represent a transitional phase in the development of the game. We’ve been upgrading the PC version from DirectX 8.0 - which is what the Xbox is using - to DirectX 9.0. We’ve also rewritten all the shaders in the process, and that’s made a world of difference. We’ve got new shadows, new reflections, cube mapping, and a bunch of other graphical features. You name it, it’s in there. Meanwhile, the Xbox version is benefitting from tons of changes, including detail maps - which is exactly what it sounds like: more detail in the texture mapping. Now, the closer you get to a texture, the more detailed it looks. Pretty cool stuff.
Rest assured that Dreamfall is looking fantastic. I play it every day, and I’m still blown away by some of the locations and characters. But you won’t have to take my word for it forever, and if you’re not convinced yet, you will be soon.
The Official Site has been updated with four new pieces of concept art showing some of Dreamfall's characters
