In this week's Riftrunner Peek of the Week #6, Senior Vegetation Artist Alex Van Ooteghem talks about the difficulty creating the flora for Larian's next game:
The first thing you'll notice when looking at the screenshots of exteriors is that the vegetation looks a bit off world. This is because the Riftrunner story is told in another dimension. My task was to create the vegetation for the exteriors. This wasn't an easy task because it had to fit in the Divinity style, while on the other hand, it still had to look strange, dry and sometimes scary as well. In short, it had to be completely different from the green lands of Rivellon or the desert-like wastelands.
There's a couple of collages of Riftrunner's unusual plants to illustrate the article.
