The Morrowind review landslide seems to start now: There are two more sites with articles on Bethesda Softworks' new RPG. The first one can be found at GameZone. It's a rather short one, with a rating of 9.3/10 and this conclusion:
This game will keep you entertained for hours on end. The game is really opened ended, and you can do whatever your heart desires. Morrowind will keep an average player occupied for a minimum of a couple hundred hours. There are so many things to do in this game, and it will differ a little with each race and class that is chosen for a different experience. I highly suggest that as soon as you have some free time to go to the nearest store and purchase it, you will not regret it! The second review of Morrowind is at Pregaming. A little bit longer than the one at GameZone, it rates the game 9/10. Here's their summary:
Overall, Morrowind is one of those few games that you just have to experience for yourself. I can go on and on about how great all the various aspects of the game are, but until you actually sit down with the game for a few hours yourself you just have no idea. Rarely is a game this innovative or amazing. Morrowind takes PC role-playing games to a new level, a level I like a lot. It gives the player a new found freedom to approach the game the way they want to, and create a character that is based upon that approach. Not only does Morrowind make you feel like you have been swept into another world, it gives you the chance to see what games, especially role playing games are all about, having fun. The game combines innovation, with focus, fun, direction and story. All this comes together to give you a game that you will remember for years to come. Addendum: there is a third Morrowind review at ActionTrip. Their rating is 91/100 and they add these final comments:
The only other drawback that I can figure is the complete lack of social life you will encounter once you start playing this game. It will suck you in, making you cut yourself off from the outside world, but I'm already used to that - I'm married. (Wocka wocka wocka!)
That being said, Morrowind is an excellent game. In terms of gameplay, there's very little more that can be offered by such a far-reaching endeavor, and Bethesda should be proud of such a fine effort. |
