OGaming speaks with Phil White, the former head of Codemaster's MMO division, about his new company Persistent Worlds Limited, and his plans for the future.
OGaming: First off, congratulations on the new venture, playboy! Mind describing your background with online gaming, and how you came to take an interest in the subject.

Phil White: I have been professionally involved with online gaming for around six years. Before that, I was also a player of massively multiplayer games dating back to the early days of Diablo and Ultima Online. I was lucky enough to work on some early projects as a consultant and things just progressed from there…

OGaming: The subject seems like something of a fixation, given your history. Why, in your mind, are MMOs solid gold?

Phil White: Because they are shiny and yellow?!?! Generally, I just love the concept of pitting yourself against other people and seeing how you compare. I don't just mean in terms of PvP, but also seeing how your skills/level/equipment compare. Also, the player community never ceases to amaze me with its humor, creativity and stupidity (and not always in that order).
