The folks over at GamerDad have unveiled their review of City of Heroes...they give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars...

Kid Factor: Lets be fairly frank, almost no MMORPG is going to be suitable for younger kids. This is no exception. People from all walks of life are playing this game and who knows what sorts of strangers kids are going to meet. There are the standard profanity filters that can be turned on, replacing naughty words with a “beep” or cartoon profanity like #!$$%#! However, mildly off-color conversations can still occur without triggering the filter. The addictive nature of these games can also overwhelm the schedules of young teens who aren’t yet able to manage their time wisely. With those basic MMORPG disclaimers, the rest of the game seems fairly appropriate for the teen rating. There are some rather ugly villains and villainous groups, such as the group attempting to kidnap helpless people and use their body parts to make Frankenstein-esque monsters. Some of these will even run up to you and blow themselves up in an effort to hurt you. Violence is frequent and is usually the solution to a given problem, but there is little, if any, blood and corpses tend to just fade away. Other issues include an overabundance of well-endowed scantily-clad superheroine characters. On the positive side, given the time and resources, this type of game could be quite fun for multiple family members to play together. Its features that make it conducive for gamers with differing time commitments can be a great help in this area.

And, whilst you are over at the GamerDad website, you may want to look over their "GamerDad Father's Day Gift Guide 2004" article...among the many Father's Day games they are recommending include such titles as City of Heroes and Star Wars: KoTOR.
