Arx Fatalis: 4/10 points |
Its linear and the story is pretty uninteresting. Combat gets very hard for anybody who doesn’t have a high magic skill. Even with the last patch you still get dumped back to the desktop regularly.
Its easy to miss important items such as keys and then end up spending hours trying to find out how to get past a door.
Most of the puzzles are logical but there are a few which will have you reaching for a
walkthrough.
I enjoyed ultima underworld much more. |
Asheron's Call 2: The Fallen Kings: 4/10 points |
Starts off well but once you reach the higher levels the poor class balancing starts to show itself, this is a big problem since a large part of the high end game is PvP.
The world is not very interesting and the quests are very poor. |
Baldur's Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn: 7/10 points |
Mindless fighting, collecting of loot and exp.
200hours of gameplay could of done with more work on the story however its still a good game. |
Black & White: 9/10 points |
A very intreresting game that is a refreshing change from the norm.
|
Divine Divinity: 8/10 points |
A good game but nothing special. |
Earth And Beyond: 5/10 points |
The combat in this game is unlike most space combat games for a start its a very slow uninteresting process. To kill something just park your space ship infront of your target activate your weapons and wait. On the plus side the slow combat means that even 56k modem uses can play this game without getting lag.
The current problem with E&B is that you level very fast which is a problem because there isn't much to do at high levels.
The live team are going to need to put a lot of work into the high level game if they want to keep their current customers. |
Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 9/10 points |
So many elements of this game reminded me of ultima7 which can only be a good thing. |
Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: Bloodmoon: 7/10 points |
The main story for bloodmoon isn't very good however the side plot for building a mining outpost is quite enjoyable since as you progress through the missions you get to see the outpost grow and prosper.
The new island is very nice to look at but is completely covered in monsters trying to kill you this is fine to start with but as you progress through the story you soon get bored of having to hack your way from A to B.
The expansion will not offer much in the way of loot or exp for people who have played through both morrowind and tribunal. However with the difficulty set to max even high level characters will find this game to be pretty challenging in places. |
EverQuest: 9/10 points |
This game stole a large chunk of my life! Had really good fun in a very highend guild raiding stuff that required good tactics and a large amount of players to kill. |
Eye of the Beholder 2 - The Legend of Darkmoon: 8/10 points |
First game I got for my 286 PC and what a good choice it was.
I remember thinking that pc games can't get any better than this, but that soon changed a few weeks later after seeing ultima7. |
Eye of the Beholder 3 - Assault on Myth Drannor: 5/10 points |
Story was lame and the combat was endless and uninteresting.
EotB 2 was a far better game. |
Faery Tale Adventure: 8/10 points |
Friend had it on his Amiga I started to play it and soon fell in love with it, by the time I finished it my friend was sick of the sight of me =)
This game got me in to rpg and I have never looked back. |
Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 10/10 points |
Good story, fun combat and a very interesting world to explore what more could you want. |
Fallout 2: 9/10 points |
Lacks the classic story of Fallout1 but does everything else much better. |
Icewind Dale 2: 6/10 points |
Hack Slash and Rest then repeat 500 times.
Good selection of classes/races to create your party from and plenty of interesting items.
Story start off well but suffers later on in the mindless dungeon crawl towards the end. |
Lands of Lore 1 - The Throne Of Chaos: 9/10 points |
A lovely little gem of a game which for some reason most people seemed to miss out on.
Sadly the sequels were crap. |
Neverwinter Nights: 9/10 points |
Thousands of player made modules to download most of which better than the one you get with NWN.
Best played with a group of friends over a lan. |
Planescape: Torment: 10/10 points |
This game is perfect in every way the only sad thing is the lack of a sequel. |
System Shock 2: 9/10 points |
Fear the monkeys. |
Ultima 7 - Serpent Isle (Sequel): 10/10 points |
If only they would make a new version that ran on windows XP! |
Ultima 7 - The Black Gate: 10/10 points |
Only bad thing about this game is it requires MS-Dos. |
Ultima 7 - The Forge of Virtue (Addon ): 8/10 points |
At the end of this side quest you got a big black sword with a demon in it, only weapon in ultima able to kill Lord British.
|
Ultima 8 - Pagan: 7/10 points |
Its a good game but can't really stand up to ultima 7 parts 1 or 2. |
Ultima 9 - Ascension: 4/10 points |
Highly buggy unless patched even then it still has more than a few errors.
I love the ultima games but U9 game was a huge disappointment. |
Ultima Underworld 1 - The Stygian Abyss: 8/10 points |
Like all the old ultima games this game is showing its age but its still a classic. |
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption: 5/10 points |
Didn't like the lack of control over your party buggers kept running into bad combat situations.
Story was quite good but once you got to the modern age it seemed to get less interesting. |
Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos: 9/10 points |
A great RTS game not really a rpg as far as I can tell. |
