Shadow of the Past has been dubbed the "capes" expansion by many of the players for a big obvious reason. Players are quite excited about getting a chance to don one of the mainstay pieces of costume of heroes throughout the ages. While capes may be a symbol of craziness and tomfoolery in the real world, they're a symbol of power and heroism in the comic world. Cryptic wanted to get them right. Apparently they could have added them to the original release but decided to wait until they could be done right. As Lead Designer Jack Emmert was happy to point out, they now have it right.
