The Chronicles of Spellborn team preview the forthcoming Spellborn Scrolls episode "Cold Dawn" and speak with its writer, Community Manager Mathew Reuther.Regarding the writing of Cold Dawn Mathew explains: "When I originally looked at Jesse's notes they brought chills to my spine. I really enjoyed the basics of the story and felt that he'd once again crafted a great piece of storyline. My favorite Scroll of Jesse's thusfar is Silent Child, the conclusion to A Guard's Tale. The suspense and action in that Scroll really caught my imagination and I was excited by the prospect of even more combat coming to life in Cold Dawn."
The largest Scroll to date, Cold Dawn provides a number of paths which lead to different versions of the same encounters. This allows for much more "replayability" than previous efforts, and has proven to be a greater challenge than expected. Webmaster Steve Guns modified the pathing engine used by the writers in order to account for the new requirements of the Scroll. The system now tracks entries allowing simple codes to remember variables in the prior decisions of the reader. A path-checking system ensures that each choice within the Scroll actually relates to an entry, avoiding missing pieces of the storyline.
Originally scheduled for release at the end of January, Cold Dawn is undergoing finishing touches and will be released in early February. The eleventh scroll is currently in development and will be coming out in late February. More... | Source: Spellborn |
