Another preview of Earth & Beyond has been posted, this time at UGO. Here's a bit for you:
Another interesting aspect of Earth & Beyond is that, unlike that of other online RPGs, character customization in this game does not stop with choosing a class and picking the look of your in-game avatar. The fact is that, while you will spend some time station-side walking around on foot, the majority of the game is played in space. This means, of course, that you'll have to have a starship, and starship design is one of the cooler elements of creating a character. The ship designs come from Doug Chiang, and if his name sounds familiar, that's probably because you've seen a Star Wars movie in the past five years. The guy did the ship designs for Episode I and Episode II, and he knows what he's doing, because every single one of the available ships is cool in its own way. The Terran vessels have a certain straightforward look to them, but original touches abound, especially on the Jenquai side of things. The best part, however, is that there's plenty of customization to be had within the boundaries of Mr. Chiang's designs, including a full palate of color combinations that can be applied to different parts of the ship, and a modular design that allows for you to swap in different wing, chassis or engine parts. There are basics that never change, but the simple fact of the matter is that, in the group of about twenty people who played the game during our demonstration, no two ships ended up looking alike.
