The fourth part of the Etherlords 2 Dev Diary at Gamespy is written by Oleg Belaychook - and it deals with the changes in gameplay that makes the game more of an RPG. It also discusses the changes needed in the interface. Here's something:
Getting back to the adventure map interface, you can see that there are two more buttons on the hero's panel. One leads to the hero's inventory and the other to his notebook. It just so happens that this screen shows the inventory. It displays your hero's statistics, artifacts, active and reserve spells. Some of you who are familiar with the concept of reserve spells from the first game should be starting to salivate at this point. Yes -- that does say reserve spells -- and they are unlimited. This means that once you have purchased the spells at a shop, they will either be in your active or reserve deck and they can be changed between these two decks any time you are not actually engaged in combat. For anyone who didn't get to play the original game, let's just say that we made your life a lot easier and saved you from making repeated trips to the store! |
