If you are interested in Realms of Torment, you should check out the Realms of Torment Journal that has been posted at Level.ro today. The short article tells you about the philosophy behind the game, as this snippet shows:
Two of the most important aspects of the RP in Realms of Torment involve the skill and the bloodline systems. Enough with the pointless mass mob slaughtering, pre-set classes and never-ending leveling system. We've had enough and we don't want it anymore. Reaching the skill level that allows YOU to make a difference in the world of RoT will be pretty easy - but achieving mastery is another thing. RoT has a skill-based system where a player can raise his/her skills by doing certain actions. Killing certain monsters over and over won't raise your skills. You'll need to kill certain monsters while performing certain actions to raise your skills. And at a certain point, you'll have to find a master in your chosen skill to train you further. Using the skill-based system, the player can truly do what he wants in the game. The bloodline system means that instead of playing a static character, you will create an entire lineage of heirs. |
