Martin Joerg Schwiezer, CEO of Reakktor.com, has announced a 2 major features in Neocron that will make gameplay a whole lot better: The first feature is the NavRay System which will make navigation a lot easier, and the 2nd is the big Balance of Power system or BoP. The BoP is a faction/clan system which allows clans to control different parts of Neocron by doing clan missions for their faction. Its a good idea to read the whole post by Martin Schwiezer to understand it, but here's all about NavRay:
A) The NavRay System
Compared to the second feature, this one is pretty easy to explain: It is a navigator tool that helps you to find important destinations within Neocron and in the Wastelands. No more helpless wandering around, when all you want to do is to find the nearest merchant. You simply select an entry from a list of possible destinations and when you are within a cartographed area, a gloomy, semi-transparent ray appears in your head-up-display and guides your way. Simply follow the ray to reach your destination. When you are outside the cartographed area (off-Matrix), an arrow appears in your HUD that guides you to either your destination or the nearest cartographed area (Matrix), where you can follow the NavRay again.
Since only basic destinations are stored, the NavRay system does not spoil the fun of exploring the world of Neocron. However, being an intelligent navigation system it includes destinations like "nearest weapon shop", "my appartement", "next mission goal", the way to dfferent districts/zones of the world (e.g. Plaza, ViaRosso, Outzone, Wastelands) the way to the factions' HQs etc.
It is a truly helpful tool that will help to keep the level of frustration down, but still leaves the fun exploring the world. NavRay has proved to be extremely helpful in the multilayered downtown areas, where a simple 2D-arrow is totally insufficient to guide you to your destination. |
