Maximus once again brings us the latest NWN and NWN2 Forum Highlights. Today - let us examine the NWN forum tidbits - featuring Obsideian Programmer, FrankK...

Heads

My girl just bought Sims 2. For those who haven't seen it, instead of simply picking a head you like, or combining head, hair, skin colour and moving on... you can actually sculpt and shape the entire head. Using a lot of tools, you shape the entire head, then the face, going from top to bottom. I know i'd LOVE to be able to do that to my characters in NWN; take my favourite char, put her portrait up, then carefully sculpt her face so it fits the portrait. Of course, you have a few presets users can choose from for those with no skill, so they don't end up with mongoloids and cavemen..only problem i can forsee, is in large PWs... how one would encode all that information so that everyone sees everyone else's head properly without there being a storm of lag. But I'm sure in 2 years time, we'll all have machines good enough to handle the load..... ( heh.. yeah right.. )

We thought about this technology. There are some big questions about how it would gracefully handle certain technical features, so it's just one of many possible solutions, but it's nothing we are currently pursuing as a real-time solution.

Faces
It is our desire to make the character's face and hair more customizable. We have a pretty neat system in place we are looking at, but as you are probably used to hearing me say, nothing is final. =)
