Sorry if this is absolutely unrelated to RPGs: I am one of the gazillion folks who downloaded the UT2003 Tournament demo this weekend (did you?). I confess I had a lot of fun playing UT against the bots when the game came out, and I expected something like this when I finished the download.
First thing I noticed was: boy, does it look good. With my GeForce 4 4400 and the reasonable fast processor I have, the thing looked better than any other game so far, be it indoors or outside. At last, there is believable grass in the game. Textures are crisp, effects are sweet. Nothing to complain there.
But. :-). I don't know if I grew older or these guys did change the design of the game: I found gameplay to be sooooo dull and boring. Hell, they peppered the maps with seven million powerups and goodies - and about every step you take adds something to your arsenal. What's this good for? Reduce the stuff in there - this is just too much.
And before you kill me because I am wrong or ignorant: Hey, I am an RPG expert, and shooter guys may disagree - but this is my space to rant, ok? *g* |
