HomeLAN has posted a preview of Irrational's 'Freedom Force' sequel.
Believe it or not, there was a time where super hero in any medium but comic books was considered, well, uncool. Now the movies are full of the spandex clad characters and PC and video games have a healthy mix of super hero titles as well. One of the first games on the PC side to start this trend was Freedom Force, an entertaining and innovative action-RPG from developer Irrational Games that was released back in March 2002 by Crave Entertainment and Electronic Arts. After several well publicized cancellations of PC super hero game titles beforehand, Freedom Force was a breath of fresh air, with a 1960’s Marvel Stan Lee-Jack Kirby inspired storyline and art style, highly destructible environments and a gameplay style that combined action, roleplaying and even squad based tactical action into a cohesive whole. The game got a ton of great reviews and “Game of the Year” honors from magazines and web sites and still has a loyal fan following and thanks to Irrational’s decision to make Freedom Force mod friendly, the game has a ton of great mods that people can play for free.
