Revolutionary. It is OLD and folks are still playing it. Drawbacks- antisocial 'd3wds', dated graphics, smallish world, tedious at times. Still some of the best online experiences I have ever had.

The MMORPG greator; today is old and dampered with the owner's greed but it created a genre, and costed me 1year and a half monthly fee :)

Probably still the best MMORPG. The only one I still miss after playing the others, although not enough to resubscribe.

I loved Ultima IV-VIII but Ultima Online simply sucks! I played it for weeks and really wanted to like it but I simply donīt!

Lot's to do in this game. Its pretty hard to start out, and has the same problems as other MMORPG's but is still a great game.

This game used to be really amazing, but more recently, massive balance issues, bugs, and blatant (yet accepted) cheating has turned this game into a big pile of poo.

I have to admit UO had all the elements for a really great game, unfortunately it also had elements that simply couldn't be balanced in any way shape or form for any type of honest gameplay. I guess the game was sort of a phenomena I mean it would take the worlds best game designers years of work and heavy financing to create a game more unbalanced.

Great game less the cheating.

Probably the single-most time consuming game I've ever played. If I didn't put 500+ hours into this game, I didn't put a single minute. I starting playing during the beta test, then probably played for another 3 years or so. Sure it had some issues, but it was so revolutionary that issues were understandable. The only reason I even cancelled by account was to protest the cancelling of the Ultima Online 2, Origin project. I was sooooo anticipating that game...

Was the best MMORPG ever. Shame about what it's become now though

From what I gather, this is still the most open-ended MMORPG to date. It's combat leaves a bit to be desired, as do the graphics, and there are certainly balance issues. For all that, though, the biggest problem is simply that the GMs don't seem to *care* about us little people any more. Reasonable, proveable requests for compensation for the numerous bugs are routinely ignored, rules are made apparently on whim, and on top of the Ģ7.50 per month fee, we're expected to fork out for semi-regular updates that seem to cost as much as an all-new game would, *and* an additional Ģ10 or so on a 3rd party interface upgrade if you want a *hope* of ever getting serious. It's a shame, because in some ways, it's still a really fun game that's quite relaxing to play, in a way no other RPG I've tried is. But the callous attitude of OSI, and their distinct lack of effort in keeping the rest of us involved makes me lose interest at regular intervals.

This is without any doubt the best mmorpg ever made. Anyone that does not agree is a lammer.

The pioneer in the Online RPG, I had some really great excitement with this game. A shame EA fucked it up lately, as usuall

The MMORPG that started it all! While many MMORPGs lose the RPG in their name, Ultima Online was a truly unique experience and I wish everyone could have played it when it first came out and you'd see why Everquest and some of the other more popular titles are overrated pieces of dung. I remember playing it for the first time and simply being in awe as I could check out all the cities I remembered from the Ultima series but only I was in the same world with hundreds or thousands of online gamers. In its first days, people even took the role-playing elements serious. I was always confronted with a "Hail thee sir." or other typical RPG lingo. Corny? Maybe. But it was great at the time. The only game since that has even come close to the same giant role-playing online experience is Neverwinter Nights with its custom mods and online communities. Unfortunately, Ultima Online was also the first title in which I found how the anonymous world of the internet could bring out the wierdest, most anti-social dorks in our colorful world. The "PKs" quickly ruined the game for me as I really had no desire to not be allowed to randomly roam the great expanse of land without acting like I was in a minefield where the PKs were the mines. Was a fun game but there were only so many times I could take some 15 year old kid ganking me, stealing my hard earned equipment and then laughing about it all the way to the bank. This has to be the first video game to spawn online marriages, funerals and all the other interesting tidbits we read or hear about today. It will go down as one of the most revolutionary games ever.

Great game. Every year new content added.

It WAS the best MMORPG EVER. I haven't until this day found another MMORPG that I enjoyed more, including the more popular ones that are out today. BUT, it's to put it simply turned into a pile of cow maneuer. I found that the days of old that allowed Pk'ing were more fun than anything. It brought excitement into the game. Changes they started making into this game ruined it...but let me just put it like this. It's the only MMORPG that has been around for 8 years and it will probably stay that way, for good reason.
