A few years ago, American style roleplaying games were like the adventure games of today: something that people didn’t make, buy, or enjoy. The big names in the genre were Wizardry and Ultima, and no one had conceived of Baldur’s Gate and the Elder Scrolls. Now RPGs are commonplace everywhere video games are sold and are competitive with popular first person shooters and real time strategy games. Seeking to capitalize on the demand for RPGs, developers are trying to create their own versions of successful RPGs. Dungeon Lords, an upcoming release for the PC, is trying to carve their own niche out of the RPG market.
