We have received the following Press Release from Daniel Liatowitsch, director of the first MMORPG documentary Avatars Offline:
    Hello everyone!

We're thrilled to announce that 'AVATARS OFFLINE', the first full-length documentary on the MMORPG phenomenon, is now available for purchase on DVD exclusively at www.avatarsoffline.com.

The DVD version includes both the 75 minute documentary plus and an *additional* 75 minutes of extra footage not seen previously.

After two years of production, the film premiered at this year's Game Developers Conference in San Jose.

It chronicles the past, present and future of the MMORPG genre through interviews with avid fans, self-confessed addicts, developers, scholars and vocal critics. Not merely satisfied with the simplistic mainstream media approach to 'games', the film approaches MMORPGS as an evocative art form with both great promise and undeniable dangers.

Some of the film's topics and highlights include:

    - A Tour of Britannia Manor and holding court with Richard 'Lord British' Garriott, creator of the Ultima Series (extended tour on DVD Extras!).

    - David 'DelCabon' Noll, the first level 100 of Asheron's Call, on the car accident that left him disabled and the social experience of gaming.

    - Inside EverQuest: Attending Fan Faires, quizzing the developers and understanding the long-lasting success.

    - The First Couple of EverQuest: They met in Beta Phase I and are now happily married.

    - Addiction Controversy: Can games be made to be addictive? What constitutes addiction?

    - The Cross-Gender Phenomenon: Female Wood Elves with a twist!

    - Dark Age of Camelot: Meet Mark Jacobs, Sanya 'Tweety' Thomas and Scott 'LumTheMad' Jennings.

    - Lineage The Bloodpledge: 2 million subscribers and counting.

    - Star Wars Galaxies: See the Star Wars universe come alive in amazing footage and go behind the scenes with Haden 'Shug_Nix' Blackman and Tom Sarris!

    And much more!

We're very excited about finally being able to share the film with the public and look forward to the community's feedback!
