Gothic 2: 10/10 points |
This game has an actual quest line-up which gives the game a meaning for playing. Most of the times you will be busy fulfilling quest instead of killing monsters to evolve a level(as regrettebly is the case with most games). Instead of being forced to scout the surrounding, finishing the quest will level you up naturally through the challenges found from the quests. It is really awesome how well this works.
Another positive thing about this game is the way you join a class. Where you will have to choose your class in the beginnening of most RPG's here you select it during the course of the game, which is quite realistic and gives you the possibility of finding out which guild would apply to you.
There is so much more to talk about such as the real life world(where you are not the only person moving around and the NPC's seem to be statues) and the skill based combat (In which you can not write everything down to your level but can also influence the outcome of a battle through good skill) and the diversion of the quest etc.etc.
You really have to play it to find out where I am talking about.

P.S - Unfortunate for Jowood that there was such a lack of interest in publishing Gothic 2,so it only sold well in Germany. If they had managed to publish Gothic 2 well they would have had a great hit(preventing the bad tide of near bankruptcy) |
