FBI Reviews sat down with Pro Sotos from Strategy First to conduct an interview about their upcoming strategy/RPG hybrid Disciples 2 - Dark Prophecy. Here's abit from that about changes in the combat system:
FBI Reviews: Is the combat system/elements going to be changed in any way?
Pro Sotos: There have been several changes made to the combat system. The skip and mass-suicide buttons have been removed. The combat features now include wait, defend, retreat and auto-battle. If a player uses the wait button, the unit will attack after all of the other units have attacked. If the player chooses to defend they will take half damage from an enemy attack for a complete round of combat. The retreat feature lets the player escape during a battle and the auto-battle lets the computer play both players' turns. Also leaders can use two items in addition to their regular attack and they can be either a potion, an orb or a talisman. Orbs and talisman are magic attacks and they are similar to each other except that talisman have charges and can be used up to five times, orbs disintegrate after they’ve been used. Other than that the combat window is now full screen and all of the graphics are completely stunning, the backgrounds, the portraits, and the battle animations I couldn’t have hand picked a better art team. |
