very good AD&D combat engine, turn based, nice character animation, many bugs, no story - a classic kill-all-evil rpg. |

RPGDot review says it all. Fun game, well implemented, no real plot, pity about the bugs. Bring on the sequel. |

Definitely needs a patch but unless you're suffering continuous CTDs (I didn't) the broken math and item creation doesn't detract too much from the gameplay. If you don't like turn-based you never EVER should have bought this game. It was its biggest selling point. |

Warning to people considering buying ToEE:
an =Unusually Large= number of players, FAR more than is "normal" for PC games, are experiencing Frequent/Constant Crashing to desktop and other Game Stopping -fatal- bugs.
This occurs in both the Retail CD version and the downloadable version.
Again, this is not the usual percentage of gamers who always seem to have problems with any PC game... this is a highly unusual situation where games get "corrupted" for no apparent reason.
In my own case (Retail CD), after a week of nearly Bug Free play, for no reason I just suddenly started crashing to desktop =every= time I tried to zone, =anywhere=.
Now all 5 of my save games have this bug, in completely different locations, and I can no longer play.
The official Atari patch is due out this Friday the 7th, my advice would be to WAIT before purchasing, or before starting to play and risking wasting dozens of hours and having to start all over due to corrupt save games. |

Loved this game. Have played through it twice now. Fortunately, I haven't encountered any of the major bugs I've read about. (i.e. zero crashes and no corrupt files). This is the best 3rd ed. D&D CRPG available (with the best D&D combat ever in a CRPG). |

RPG Dot's review is one of the finest. Well analysed, well written. It's a shame that not many people grasp the concept of simple good ol' dungeon crawling. D&D crpg at its finest. Bug infested but patch is coming out soon... |

Obviously the reviewer has not played the game entirely through, or even to its summit; later in the game I was able to gather coins and treasure from the inventory of NPC. The NPC just has to become trusting, which happens in time.
It might just have been that my bard had a really high charisma, though... |

Very fine dungeons crawl game. The combat is over the top, fantastic graphics, character creation is very well done. The game's greatly improved with the recently released patch. I heard that numerous interesting concepts have been removed just before its release, it's just to bad, but well, Atari's the publisher.
The game has no plot, sound acting is insulting, way too short (i feel like playing an expansion), some annoying bugs are still there. and very uninteresting side-quests. |

Enjoyable turn based hack-n-slash. This game restored my faith in 3rd Edition AD&D on the computer. Too short, the plot was either bad or non-existant, I'm not sure. It wasn't too buggy for me, but I did encounter the odd strange happening.
But it was very fun. I really enjoyed this game and hope they make a sequel or similar. |

The game is real fun battle tactic & atmosperic dungeon adventure. (play after patched)You have not the interactive freedom like in Realms of Arkania. But the dialogues are not the stupid philosophy-style you know from Baldurs Gate II. The Temple of Elemental Evil has a complex character building system, and much lovely detail. You feel frightened when your party healer is captured by a giant frog. And you will laugh if your party smashes the evils away. (instead of the own death) The game is somthing like playing DiabloII but with turn based battles and a deeper logical story. ;) |

very good AD&D combat engine although you may find it strange at first.Nice story, music could have been better.
Umfortunately there some bugs e.g items that dont work like they supposed to.But overall a very good game.I give 10 for the graphics and character, monster animation |

This is probably the must underated rpg games after 2000.. It did have some bugs but it was most definately the game that brought most game feeling especially with the new 3.5 rules so extremely well placed.
If people play pen and paper d20 games with 3.5 rules they should recognise that this game is the one who has come closest to bring the pen and paper rpg to the Computer enviroment. It is just sadly that not that many people could see this obviously great game as it is/was. I truly hope with everyone i know who play rpg wish for a similar computer rpg in the near future :)

Turn-based RPG rules all. The only bad thing about this game is it's short play life. It would be perfect if it came with a simple random dungeon creator where you just set the level of the enemies and setting and it creates a random game to play. No plot just a hack and slash mini-game. |

Had the potential to become truly awesome: I really loved the combat system but hated the missing opponent AI (I suspect the baddies always pick one out of a few prescribed actions instead of e.g. taking into account your characters abilities). I almost never had to exploit all the tactical possibilities to win a fight.
Unfortunately I couldn't finish the game due to bugs.
Could have done with an option to turn off the eye-candy and speed up combat!
Conclusion: the best combat system of any RPG but they probably ran out of time to write (and debug!) a game using it. What a terrible waste... |
