GamePen has done a review of Arcanum. With just 3 1/2 out of 5 stars, the rating isn't too enthusiastic. Here's their conclusion:

Graphics and sound are adequate, if not flashy.  They manage to help the story move along, and they don’t distract.  In a game of this imaginative setting and story, that was enough for me.  There were also some performance issues and slowdowns, and a few bugs that should have been squashed during the games extended “gold” status.  A little more polish would have been nice, but nothing happened on the software end that detracted too much from the game.

All in all, Arcanum is a good game.  It probably will appeal to a more hardcore RPG crowd, and I really can’t recommend it to the casual gamer, but if you happen be a fan of RPGs, then you owe it to yourself to check out this unique offering.  After all, how often do you get to see a half-orc gunslinger in a tuxedo?
