Warcry's Joseph Blancato takes on the task of interviewing Still Life's Lead Game Designer, Mathieu Lariviere...

WarCry: First, could you tell us a bit about TAC and Microids?

Mathieu: The Adventure Company is a separate label built out from DreamCatcher Games. The label was built out of the company’s belief that adventure titles with good production values and moderate pricing is an attractive alternative to many consumers who want the rich storytelling and engaging game play that adventure games offer. The Adventure Company brand has over the last few years become synonymous with what adventure gaming is today. Microids shares this same passion for adventure games having created several top titles like Post Mortem and the Syberia series. Sharing this same vision, Microids and The Adventure Company have collaborated together frequently on many titles.

Gustav and Victoria, the two main characters, seem very similar. Have
steps been taken to ensure they both have unique personalities?

Victoria and Gustav are very different. The only thing they have in common is blood (Vic is Gus’s granddaughter). Just the different time periods the game is set in demands for both to have very different personalities. Also, the time difference makes it so that Gus and Vic have totally different approaches to investigate crimes; one who relies on modern crime solving techniques and the other who relies more on gut instincts.
