RPG Vault has a report on the Austin Games Conference. Here's a taste:
Thursday morning kicked off with a keynote address by John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, on the topic with which he's intimately familiar, The Future of Online Gaming. His speech was particularly interesting in that it reinforced my own feeling that the pace of change in the sector will continue to accelerate. The leading Western developers and publishers have certainly been aware of what's been happening with respect to making, marketing and selling massively multiplayer games in other markets, especially Korea. However, we haven't seen the same degree of diversity here, not by a long shot, in the kinds of projects or the ways of monetizing them.
