The meta-level becomes of great importance once your normal character level has stopped advancing, at level 60. It simply is the only form of character advancement left to you, aiming for the best possible gear. But getting your meta-level
to 63 by collecting lots of purple items, whether by PvP to the highest rank or raiding, easily can take hundreds of hours.
